
IEC Strategy and Capacity Buiding to provide Implementation Support for Improvement of Solid Waste Management in Tumakuru
This project focused on developing an IEC strategy and capacity-building initiatives to improve solid waste management in Tumakuru under the Smart City program.
It included door-to-door awareness campaigns, workshops, street plays, training for waste collectors and stakeholders, and distribution of IEC materials to promote better waste practices and community participation.
Scope of Work
Door-to-door campaign – one-to-one interaction (600 man-days)
Public address FGD / workshop, etc.
Programmes at Educational Institutions (Essay, Painting, Debate, etc.)
Printing and Distribution of the IEC Material.
Broadcasting of scrolling on local cable TV.
Street play.
Training and Capacity Building: Training needs assessment study, submission, and approval of a comprehensive report.
Stakeholder training needs assessment study: Waste Collector.
Stakeholder training needs assessment.
Stakeholder training needs assessment study: Private waste collectors and Rag Pickers.
Administration and Monitoring
Key Achievements
70% work completed. However, work is on hold due to COVID-19. Tumkur City is rated No. 2 under Swachh Survekshan-2020 among the Districts of Karnataka.
