This project involved conducting IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities under the Swachh Bharat Mission to promote awareness on solid waste management and sanitation.

Activities included door-to-door campaigns, wall paintings, street plays, hoardings, and community programs to encourage waste segregation, hygiene, and public participation.

Overall, the initiative aimed to bring behavioral change and improve cleanliness practices at the community level, and was completed.

Scope of Work

Providing an awareness program by door-to-door campaign about source segregation, etc., covering all the aspects in Solid Waste Management.

  • Clearing / converting black spots, at least two per ward.

  • Provide at least 4 types of awareness jingles to play in waste collection vehicles.

  • Provide and install at least one banner per ward regarding awareness about Solid Waste Management.

  • At least 2 unique awareness programs to be conducted per ward. Video jingles / small play.

  • Create ward-wise cleanliness task force stories/drama, etc., involving elected representatives.

  • Prepare master data involving every household detail, print handbills about source segregation and home composting, and depute one person per auto tipper to carry out the door-to-door awareness program.

  • Upload photos and videos on the ULBs' Swachh Bharat mission website, and the awareness campaign shall be published in the newspaper.

  • Prepare a “before” and “after report about the implementation of the IEC Program.

  • Wall painting having information about hygiene and sanitation on 4 public/community toilets coming under TMC, K.R.Pete.

  • Create awareness on individual hygiene, waste segregation to Pourakarmika’s  through training programmes, exposure visits, and also encourage pourakarmikas by felicitation
